Our classes run from September through May with an annual Recital in June. We also offer summer camps that run June through August to keep your dancer active all year round. Ballet is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. It is often referred to as the backbone of dance. Development of Ballet technique is the foundation of all Dance. Ballet provides the knowledge of body placement and the tools necessary to develop a confidant and accomplished dancer. We strive to improve the students strength and flexibility. We highly recommend ballet classes for all our students of all ages and it is mandatory for all competitive students.
Tap is a dance discipline that teaches the dancer about improvisation and syncopation. Our tap program focuses on clarity of sounds, speed work and most importantly musicality. Students are challenged with intricate rhythms, foot work, and tap vocabulary. The dancers feet essentially act as a drum, and each part of the foot makes a particular beat and sound. We are proud to say that our competitive tap dancers have won numerous awards.
Jazz is one of the most popular and long-lasting styles of dance in the performing industry. Over the years jazz has evolved into many different styles and techniques. With our jazz classes, we strive to bring creative , versatile and experimental forms of dance together for our students, showcasing all the different jazz vocabulary. As with most forms of dance, any jazz dancer will require a strong technical background. The best jazz dancers benefit from and often include ballet training.
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres. Breaking the conventional style of dance, our contemporary instruction focuses on the exploration of movement, by connecting through mind and body. This allows our dancers to explore their emotions, and use their natural energy to portray their personal expression in their dance technique. Our instructors also use contract/release, floor work, fall and recovery and improvisational to create their unique choreography. The suggested age to start contemporary is eight to nine with at least one year of ballet.
Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique in which a ballet dancer supports all body her weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes. Although age is not necessarily a prerequisite, our students do not usually begin to dance in point any earlier than 12 to 14 years of age. Another key determining factor is strength in the legs, feet, ankles and core. All dancers who wish to study this discipline must first be evaluated by the instructor for proper placement.
Baton twirling is an art involving the manipulation of the baton within the parameters of the performers body to a coordinated routine. We strive to introduce our students to all introductory elements of baton twirling. These elements include creation of visual elements pictures and pattern executed with dexterity, smoothness, fluidity, and speed.
Musical Theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical are communicated through words, music, movement and technical aspects.
Mommy-and-me classes are equal parts bonding activity, a way to pass time with a small child, and rite of passage. With that comes a lot of shared experiences: We all learn the same songs, play the same games, and face the same kid-wrangling challenges. Children should be acquiring movement and co-ordination skills in appropriate activities that include dance.
Pre School The goal of our preschool program is to instill a love of dance. Our youngest dancers learn basic ballet and tap movements in a positive and fun environment. As pre-schoolers journey through our comprehensive curriculum, they grow in developmentally appropriate skills. Dancers explore their independence by attending class without parental assistance.
